Describe a time when someone’s words had a lasting impact on you.   - October 16, 2026

Prompt Response: A time when someone’s words had a lasting impact on me was after my first heartbreak, when my color guard friends told me, “It’s okay to miss someone and still move forward.” I was struggling to let go of a relationship that meant a lot to me, and I felt stuck in my sadness. Hearing those words made me realize that healing doesn’t mean forgetting or pretending not to care. My friend’s advice helped me accept my feelings while also encouraging me to keep growing. Since then, I’ve approached love and loss with more understanding and patience for myself. Those words have stayed with me, reminding me that it’s possible to honor your feelings and still find hope for the future despite the pain they gave you. Summary: Today in class we finished working on our poem and started our blog posts. Reflection: Nothing.

Today, you had the opportunity to express yourself through poetry. Reflect on your creative writing process. What did you find most enjoyable or challenging about turning your thoughts into a poem? Did this assignment change the way you think about poetry or creative writing? Explain your experience.  - October 15, 2026

Prompt Response: Today, I had the chance to express myself through poetry by writing a love poem dedicated to my celebrity crush. The creative writing process felt exciting because I could let my imagination run wild and put my feelings into words. I enjoyed finding the perfect words to describe my admiration, but it was challenging to make the poem sound sincere and not too cheesy. Turning my thoughts into poetry made me realize how powerful and personal creative writing can be. This assignment changed the way I think about poetry, showing me it doesn’t have to be serious or traditional to be meaningful. Overall, I had fun channeling my emotions and creativity into a poem that truly felt like my own. Summary: Today in class we started to work on our own poem. Reflection: After working on my own poem today it made me realize that I should really stop overthinking when it comes to what to write in any form of writing I do. Also I realized that I shouldn’t be somehow any form of em...

Write about a moment when you had to step out of your comfort zone.  - October 13, 2026

Prompt Response: Last year, I decided to try colorguard even though I had never done anything like it before. Joining the team made me nervous because I wasn’t sure if I would be good at tossing flags or learning the routines. Despite my worries, I pushed myself to go to every practice and give it my best effort. At first, I felt awkward and out of place, but with time, I started to improve and make new friends. Performing with the team in front of a crowd was exhilarating, and I realized how much I enjoyed being a part of colorguard. Stepping out of my comfort zone helped me discover a new passion that I now truly love. Summary: In class today we answered questions based by the poem of “Constantly Risking Absurdity. Reflection: After answering the questions based by the poem it made me have a deeper understanding of the poem. It also made me work on having a better understanding when it comes to reading poems.

Talk about a time when you had to write a poem, whether it was for an assignment, event, or special occasion. What was the writing process like for you, and were you proud of the finished product? - October 12, 2026

Prompt Response: Sharing my first-ever poem for my ex-boyfriend was a vulnerability I had never experienced before, as I wrote my entire soul on the page just to have that same heart broken by him later. During the writing process, words poured out of me with an effortless, raw intensity because every line was fueled by the deep, genuine love I felt at the time. When I finished, I felt an overwhelming sense of pride and awe at what I had created, marveling at how perfectly the stanzas captured the absolute purest depths of my emotions. However, looking back on those verses now brings a heavy wave of regret, making it painful to realize I wasted such art on someone who didn't deserve it. Yet, even though the relationship ended in pain, I can’t deny the beauty of the artistic breakthrough it sparked within me.This experience taught me that while the guy may have been unworthy, the capacity to love and create so deeply is a powerful gift that remains entirely my own. Summary: Today ...

How did this challenge affect the way your group discussed the story and made decisions? What did you learn from the experience? - October 2, 2026

Prompt Response: Our group immediately came together by a shared goal because none of us wanted to write the essay. This moment in the assignment forced us to think carefully over every quiz question rather than rushing through the assessment. We listened to each other's evidence from "A Worn Path" and debated on the answer choices for each question before submitting. Our final decisions were made through agreement, depending heavily on textual proof rather than just intrusive. This assignment taught me that collaboration thrives when a team shares a clear goal. Ultimately, I realized that collective work can reveal deeper layers of a story than reading it entirely on my own. Summary: Today in class we did group assignment and assessment based by the story “The Worn Path”. Reflection: After doing that assignment I realized that there is no wrong answer when it comes to interpreting the story, it’s just the way that you format it that it’s important. I also learned that ...

Think about a time when you had to travel somewhere or work through obstacles to reach a destination or goal. What challenges did you face along the way? Was the journey worth it in the end? Explain why or why not. - September 29, 2026

Prompt Response: For the longest time, my parents forced me into sports like swimming and soccer, but then thanks to a friend I joined colorguard where in an instant I felt like I truly fit in and did something I loved. The biggest obstacle wasn't just convincing them to let me do the sport, but also dealing with everyone like my ex-friends and ex constantly telling me that guard isn't even a real sport. It was so frustrating pushing through those endless insults and practicing my tosses until my hands were bruised all while trying to prove to everyone that this was worth my time. There were so many moments when the exhausting schedule and the constant hate from people made me feel like giving up entirely. But the second I finally took the field under the stadium lights with my team, feeling that adrenaline of my first show in marching band, and doing the choreography with my teammates that will soon be my favorite people in the world, every single struggle instantly vanished...

Think about a conversation you have had that had a lasting impact on you. What was the conversation about, and how did it change your thinking, perspective, or actions? - September 28,2026

Prompt Response: I used to feel this intense pressure to always be the "funny friend or funny daughter," constantly making jokes because I thought nobody would want me around if I wasn't being entertaining. I was completely exhausting myself trying to maintain that personality until one night after a brutal colorguard practice when I finally broke down to my team about how insecure I actually felt. Instead of laughing or acting weirded out, my guard friends huddled around me and said they loved me for who I am, not for how well I can perform or make them laugh. Hearing that from the people who saw me at my absolute worst completely shattered my mindset and made me realize I didn't need to put on a show just to be valued. That conversation changed everything for me because it was the first time I felt safe dropping the act and just being real. Now, I finally stopped stressing over everyone else's opinions and realized that true friends just want the genuine versi...
